WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Hopefully you should now have an idea of what being a retained firefighter is all about and you are still interested.

You will still need to find out more about the fire station, meet the station crew and have a chat with the person in charge , usually the Watch Manager.

You are encouraged to visit your local fire station where you will be asked a number of important questions to determine whether you meet the eligibility criteria to become a firefighter on the retained duty system. The Watch Manager will then forward their recommendations to our Retained Recruitment Officer to advise of your enquiry and/or will issue you with the Pre-application form.

The pre-application form should be completed and returned direct to the Retained Recruitment Officer at the earliest opportunity. Subject to this being satisfactory, the full application form will then be sent to you for completion and return when it will then be progressed through the relevant stages. Please pay particular attention to application return deadlines .

Good luck!
