I have been sent a letter requiring me to carry out fire safety improvements. I don’t agree with what I have been asked to do. What can I do next?Make sure that the letter is not an Enforcement notice, Alterations Notice or a prohibition Notice. If it is any of these, then you may wish to consider a formal appeal. How to do this will be detailed in the letter. If it is not one of these notices then you should contact the officer named in the letter. If you are still not happy you can also ask to speak to the Fire Safety Manager for that office? If you are still not happy you may wish to contact the head of the department in writing to explain your concerns. Group Manager ProtectionWiltshire Fire & Rescue Headquarters Manor House Potterne Devizes SN10 5PP If you are still unhappy then you should use our formal corporate complaints procedure We always try to agree with clients as to what they need to do to improve their fire precautions, so we welcome the opportunity to discuss your concerns or alternative approaches you may have thought of. Sometimes it is difficult to agree. In these matters it is possible to apply to the Secretary of State for a determination on the matter. Both parties have to be in agreement to do this. If you wish to request Determination as a route to solve the matter then ask us and if we agree that determination is the right cause of action, we will facilitate the process. |
